Why Do Gua Sha?

​​Gua Sha is based on centuries of health practices rooted in Chinese Medicine. The technique of Gua Sha was traditionally done using a large coin, spoon or rounded bottle cap. Families would work on each other daily, scraping the skin and looking for “Sha”, redness of the skin, indicating old or stagnant energy trapped in the muscles was being released. Gua Sha therapy is geared towards increasing circulation, relieving pain and moving stagnant energy that is impeding efficient functioning of different systems and areas of the body.
